Art Exhibition:  Nebula Gallery, McDermott Library

In a somewhat cyclical methodology, city streets are often the best places to witness the cause and effect of the human experience; it is a place used to commute, to gather in protest or celebration, to socialize, to relax, to consume, and, unfortunately for some, to live one's life. As Langston Hughes noted, anyone “can photograph these people—but very few photographers can make […] a comment upon the social order that creates their lives.” The photographs in this exhibition display more than simply figures in a setting, but also the social behaviors and constructs that shape all individuals.
