Artist Panel Discussions at Centraltrak: Rachel Cox, Paho Mann, Kristy Peet

Moderated by curator Marilyn Waligore. The discussion will feature Rachel Cox, Paho Mann, Kristy Peet. Gallery hours are Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. and by special appointment. Rachel Cox lives and works in the Dallas area. Prints from Cox’s series have been presented at The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Houston Center for Photography, David Weinberg Gallery in Chicago, and the Philadelphia Photo Art Center. Cox has shown work internationally at The Musee de l'Elysee, in Switzerland, Museo Amparo in Puebla, MX, The Monterrey Contemporary Art Museum, and at QUAD Gallery in Derby, UK, as part of the Format Photo Festival. In 2015 Cox was one of three American artists to be included in reGeneration3: New Perspectives in Photography, a worldwide survey of contemporary photographers curated and hosted by the Musee de l'Elysee in Lausanne, Switzerland. Additionally in 2014, she was nominated for the Paul Huff FOAM Award given by the Fotografiemuseum in Amsterdam, Netherlands, a worldwide internationally acclaimed photography prize for artists under 35. Cox’s work has recently been published in Vice Magazine, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, and the British Journal of Photography. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography at Michigan State University, and received her MFA from the University of New Mexico in 2013. Paho Mann’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Arizona State University Art Museum (Tempe, AZ), Tucson Museum of Art (Tucson, AZ), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN) and the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh, PA) among others. Mann’s work is included in the collections of the Tucson Museum of Art, the Museum at Texas Tech University, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and the City of Phoenix Public Art Program. Mann was born in 1978 on his parents homestead near Snowflake, Arizona. In 1992 he moved with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico where in 2001 he received a BFA from the University of New Mexico. He received his MFA from Arizona State University in 2007.Currently, Mann lives and works in Dallas, Texas where he is an Associate Professor of Photography at the University of North Texas. Kristy Peet was born in Dallas, Texas and completed her undergraduate work at Austin College in Sherman, Texas and her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. She is a large format analog photographer focusing primarily on staged images conceptually related to the internal personal state. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across the US including a solo exhibition at the Dallas Contemporary. Her work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Savanah College of Art and Design. Kristy also serves as Vice President of BOX13 Artspace, an artist-run exhibition and studio space devoted to the creation and advancement of experimental contemporary art in Houston. Kristy lives and works in Houston, Texas. She is currently Professor of Art at College of the Mainland.
