Gallery Talk by Curator: Dr. Giraud Polite, 2:00 p.m., University Theatre Reception: 2:45 p.m., University Theatre Gallery hours are 2:00 - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This exhibition is curated by Dr. Giraud Polite and includes images by photographers Dawoud Bey, Keliy Anderson-Staley and Carrie Mae Weems. Bio: Giraud Polite As an artist and recipient of the Creative PhD, Giraud Polite has over thirteen years of visual communications experience and has spent the past ten years visually documenting and researching a variety of ethnic groups on five different continents. He is currently a member of the Society of Photographic Education and the Urban Creative Network where he attends conferences and participates in panel discussions about current photographic and design shifts and trends. Giraud also serves as member, mentor, and adviser to programs such as Making Connections, Inc. and the Brookhaven College Film Club. As a Louisiana/Texas artist, Giraud has exhibited works extending from digital photography to multimedia arts in a variety of museums, cultural centers, and educational institutions.
