Virtual Book Launch: Dr. Matthew Brown's "Science and Moral Imagination"

Friday, November 20, 2020, 2:00 p.m.
Venue: Online
Admission: Free
Season: 2020-2021

Join us for a conversation about the Dr. Matthew Brown's new book Science and Moral Imagination: A New Ideal for Values in Science. The book challenges the idea that science and values cannot and should not influence each other. He argues that science and values mutually influence and implicate one another, that the influence of values on science is pervasive and must be responsibly managed, and that science can and should have an influence on our values. This interplay, Brown explains, must be guided by accounts of scientific inquiry and value judgment that are sensitive to the complexities of their interactions. Science and Moral Imagination will be published in November 2020.

Dr. Matthew Brown will read an excerpt from Science and Moral Imagination. Dr. Kevin Elliot, Michigan State University, will moderate the conversation about the significance of values and science interaction and its significance in today's science and technology driven world. An audience Q&A will follow.

Everyone who attends this virtual event will receive a link to download a free digital copy of the book.

The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. CST via WebEx. (Click this link at 2 p.m. CST)
