
19th Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival
March 5 – March 7, 2020
This unique Texas competition, designed to showcase outstanding classical guitar students, will award over $8,000 in cash prizes to the winners. Over the three-day event, students can compete and attend master classes and concerts by internationally recognized guitarists.
We have a Youth Competition for ages 11-18 as well as the main International Concert Guitarist Competition for college-level students.

International Concert Guitarist Competition Details
Competition Prizes
International Concert Guitarist Competition:
- First Place: $3000
- Second Place: $2000
- Third Place: $1000
- Fourth Place: $500
- Audience Choice Award: $500*
- Alhambra Prize: $1000*
Per U.S. IRS regulations, prizes awarded to non-U.S. citizens may be subject to tax withholding, dependent upon current tax treaty between the U.S. and the winner's country of citizenship. U.S. citizens who are awarded prizes will not have tax withheld, and will receive an IRS Form 1099 from UT Dallas at the end of the year if the total of earnings from UT Dallas are $600 or more.
Youth Competition (both divisions):
- First Place: $300
- Second Place: $200
- Third Place: $100
- Alhambra Prize: $250*

- $500

Alhambra Guitarras of Spain has generously donated prize money to enhance the prizes for the following categories:
- Adult/International Concert-level: $1000 for the most outstanding interpretation of required works by MM Ponce in the final round
- Youth I: $250 for most outstanding performance
- Youth II: $250 for most outstanding performance
These awards will be voted on by the faculty of the festival judging panels on March 6 and 7, 2020. The prize money will be in addition to the announced prizes in each category.

Parking Instructions
For Weekend Parking:
You may park in green parking spaces after 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, or any time on Saturday or Sunday. All other parking is enforced, even after business hours and on weekends.
For Weekday Parking:
If attending an event before 5 p.m. on Friday, or at any time Monday - Thursday, you must obtain a visitor permit to park in the Green spaces. You may obtain two free permits per week from the Visitor Center or the Parking Office, with a valid photo ID presented.
The Visitor Center is open Monday - Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Parking Office is open Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For Metered Parking:
Metered parking is also available for more convenient parking. Metered parking is located on the first floor of every parking structure, as well as in Parking Lot G, M-West, and F.
