Miriam Friedman has penned books, short stories, poems and reviews, but lately she’s been writing for the theater, including A Discussion of the ‘L’ Word, which runs through Sunday at Country Playhouse as part of the 21st annual “10×10” showcase of local dramatists.
“It is so thrilling to see your words come to life on stage,” said Friedman, who has a doctorate in humanities from the University of Texas at Dallas with a concentration in women’s studies.
One character in ‘L’ Word is called “Woman.” The other character is “Man.” “They’re not married. They’ve just been living together for five years,” explained Friedman. “The play starts out in bed, and it’s a discussion about their relationship.”
