I work in a range of 2D media including oil, water color, ink and ink wash, monotype, and intaglio printmaking. My sources are predominately observational. My operative motives include the implementation of accidental or predetermined strategies in the interpretation of color and spatial relationships of the landscape and built environment.
A studio course provides students the opportunity to become physically and intellectual engaged in art making, to objectively discuss their work and the work of others and to develop thorough thoughtful practice a personal visual vernacular. I attempt to convey to the class what I know about my own practice of drawing and painting from direct observation. I also introduce techniques, procedures and materials that students may have not previously utilized in order to expand their view of the possibilities of artwork.
Peter has taught at SMU, Eastfield College, Tarrant County College, SMU CAPE, SMU in Taos and The Lakewood Arts Academy before coming to UT Dallas. Courses of study include: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Art Appreciation.
