Sports Report

In early June, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced that two infielders from UT Dallas' baseball team were named to the Association's 2007 National All-American team. Second baseman Brett Rosen and shortstop Jake Jackson were named second team at their positions on the national team after winning first-team honors on the All-West Region squad. Rosen was also named the West Region Player of the Year. Three other Comet seniors - catcher Matt Putman, outfielder Mitch Elliott and outfielder Trent Elizondo - were honored on the All-West Region squad.

The UT Dallas volleyball team is gearing up for another great year with eight new players, seven freshman and one junior college transfer, who have announced their intentions to continue their academic and volleyball careers at the University of Texas at Dallas volleyball team in 2007.

The group includes newcomers from the local area as well as Houston, Austin and San Antonio. In making the announcement, Coach Marci Sanders said that "We are counting on this talented, experienced group to step in and help us fill some big shoes." The Comets, who finished the 2006 season with a 24-7 record and advanced to the American Southwest Conference championship game, will need to replace at least five regulars off last year's team.
