Guitarist Karoline Kumst
November 14, 2008 at 8-9:30 PM
Jonsson Performance Hall, UT Dallas Campus
The work of sculptor Faith Gay and painter Ruben Nieto transforms everyday space into “ludic space,” or  “play space.” It comes in a spectrum of bright colors. Using toys in unexpected and unorthodox ways, both artists collide abstraction into fanciful play.

FBI Chief Robert Casey Visits UT Dallas
November 19, 2008 at 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Davidson Auditorium, School of Management Building, UT Dallas Campus

In his first visit to the UT Dallas campus, Robert Casey, head of the FBI’s Dallas office, will speak about what we must do to meet current national threats. This public address is open to alumni and friends, and will be followed by a reception where guests can speak directly with Casey.

Throughout Special Agent Casey’s career, he climbed the ranks of the FBI in the traditional manner from special agent to field supervisor on up. His geographical route however, was a bit less traditional, leading him from Indiana to the Houston Police Department in 1981. In 1986 Casey entered the FBI and was transferred to Phoenix, Arizona, and then to Washington, D.C., Chicago and Miami. In 2006, he landed in Dallas as Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Field Office.

Opening Reception: Vicious Pink
November 29, 2008 at 6-9 p.m.
Centraltrak, 800 Exposition Ave., Dallas

“From frill to foe hitting the norms of pink in the head.” Curated by Mary Benedicto, this exhibition pushes pink from the subversive to the hyperreal. Artists enlist pink materials to the hilt while straddling the line between high art and camp. Vicious Pink hopes to assert that high art and camp can co-exist. The show offers thoughtful commentary on the use of pink through symbolic references, material and design.

Exhibition dates: November 29, 2008 - January 20, 2009.
