+  Kochi University in Shikoku + Company Visits in Tokyo

The Japan-America Grassroots Summit is an annual gathering that provides an opportunity for a “grassroots exchange.” The program includes homestays, sightseeing, and various cultural activities. http://www.manjiro.or.jp/e/summit/nara/index.html

Following the Grassroots Summit in Nara, UT Dallas students will visit Kochi University in Shikoku Island. Students will attend Japanese language courses, visit local business, and experience Japanese culture.  Kochi University students will welcome and will participate in seminars discussion.

Following Kochi, students are invited to visit one of the most exciting cities in the world; Tokyo. Students will visit and hold seminars with Japanese leading companies, such as TOYOTA, All Nippon Airways, Mitsubishi, Kikkoman and others.

Course Description

 Students (JSOM) will enroll in one of the two courses mentioned below -

  • IMS 4V90 - Management Internship – Summer 2017 (Japan)
  • IMS 4090 – Management Internship – Summer 2017 (Japan)

This course is designed to further develop a student's business knowledge through appropriate developmental work experiences in a real business environment. Students are required to identify and submit specific business learning objectives (goals) at the beginning of the semester. At the end of the semester students must prepare a set of deliverables (see assignments section) reflecting on the knowledge gained in the work experience. Student performance is evaluated by the work supervisor. Credit/No Credit only. May be repeated for credit (6 semester credit hours maximum). Instructor consent required.
