Melissa Hernandez-Katz is a senior lecturer who teaches Communication classes. Prior to teaching Melissa worked in the student services side of higher education in various roles which included admissions counselor, academic advisor, and assistant director for advising. All centered on helping students with their academic goals. Melissa has taught Interpersonal Communications, Intercultural Communications, Professional & Technical Communications, and Survey of Oral & Technology Based Communications. Melissa enjoys learning about other cultures and behaviors and how this plays into how people communicate with others. She also has studied leadership and communication as her dissertation focused on Department Chairs and their cultural adaptability with students, staff, and other faculty members. Melissa also enjoys working with First Generation students here at UT-Dallas to help them with their own academic goals as she is a First Generation student herself.
