Areas of SpecializationLighting, compositing, and modeling for 3D animation, film, and commercial
Peter McCord is a Senior Lecturer for The School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication and teaches courses in lighting and compositing for 3D animation.
Before coming to UTD Peter worked at Reel FX Animation Studio as a lighting and compositing artist. He has worked on a variety of film, commercial, and animated short projects that include the animated feature films: Free Birds, The Book of Life, and Rock Dog.
Peter’s main focus as a lighting and compositing artist was working with complex scenes and making sure that a story could be told through the lighting of each shot. He gained valuable experience working as a modeler and a pre-visualization artist for production. He was also a mentor to junior lighting artists and helped them become acclimated with a production pipeline.
Peter holds an M.F.A and B.A. in Arts and Technology from The University of Texas at Dallas. His research interests are lighting and compositing techniques, render engines, production workflows, and working on animated shorts.
