ChessFest XI

The 11th annual ChessFest organized by the UT Dallas Chess Program and Eugene McDermott Library will present chess teacher and author Bruce Pandolfini in a free lecture. Pandolfini will also receive the UT Dallas Chess Educator of the Year Award, a national recognition that has been presented to leading chess instructors across the world. Outside of the chess community Pandolfini is best known as the teacher who was portrayed by Ben Kingsley in the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer." Pandolfini was the mentor for chess whiz kid Josh Waitzkin. Pandolfini is one of the founders of the Chess-In-The-Schools program in New York and is the creator of the Fireside Chess Library.
