Distinguished Speaker on Energy Series - Greg Astfalk: COMPUTATION, COMMUNICATION, STORAGE, AND THEIR ENERGY
Thursday, Dec 5, 2013
2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Location: TI Auditorium - ECSS 2.102

Greg Astfalk, Chief Scientist at Hewlett-Packard Company

Please join Dr. Babak Fahimi in Electrical Engineering for our Distinguished Speaker on Energy Series on Thursday, December 5, 2:00pm in the TI Auditorium, ECSS 2.102.

Greg Astfalk will be speaking on Computation, Communication, Storage, and their Energy.  The three legs of the stool we call IT are computation, data communication, and storage.  Over time the demand and requirements for each of these are growing.   In some cases this growth is significant.  Naturally each consumes energy.   We present some insights regarding their energies which may be surprising.   Each of the three “legs” will be undergoing a technology transition in the not too distant future.  We will discuss possible future solutions for the transitions and the impact on the energy each uses.

There will also be time for group Q&A and then one-on-one questions with refreshments.

Please contact [email protected] if you need parking instructions.
