4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Location: MC 2.524
The workshop introduces students to the very beginning stages of the research process, focusing on initial information gathering. This workshop will provide students with techniques to become more effective at searching for background information on a chosen topic. By the end of the workshop students will know how to identify the differences between a primary and a secondary source, how to identify the differences between academic and popular sources, have an understanding of the concept of scope and how that applies in a book versus other source types, and know how to select the appropriate database for beginning research needs.
