Jeff Spence, PhD
Topic is Birds Eye View of Machine Learning
Jeffrey S. Spence, PhD is the Director of Biostatistics at The University of Texas at Dallas Center for BrainHealth and holds an adjunct faculty appointment in the Division of Epidemiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Spence’s area of research includes the development of methodology to tackle inherent problems of Big Data specific to functional neuroimaging and EEG. In this talk, he will give a non-technical, conceptual overview of machine learning, its major successes over the last 15 years, and its limitations. He will also provide some preliminary results from training neural networks in a semantic inhibition EEG task.
