The UTD Office of Research will provide an introduction to intellectual property and other types of confidential information used in research. The development of proprietary ideas and confidential information in research at UTD creates benefits and challenges that can be difficult to navigate. The presenters will provide an update on trends in rules and regulations governing confidentiality, and the risks such information create for your research and other responsibilities to UTD. Topics discussed also include what is intellectual property, what is confidential information, what makes an idea patentable, why we protect intellectual property at UTD, tools and best practices for managing confidential obligations and best practices for protecting our intellectual property.

Registration is required and seating is limited.
