What else are students learning? Incorporating core competencies and marketable skills in course syllabi
Thursday, Mar. 7
noon - 1 p.m. Location: McDermott Library Auditorium

The Center for Teaching and Learning presents

What else are student learning?  Incorporating core competencies and marketable skills in course syllabi with Janie Shipman, Career Center and Dr. Karen Huxtable-Jester

We often hear about "Return on Investment"--a concept just as important in higher education as it is in business.  Students want to be confident that the investment in their education will set them on a path to success.  Employers want to be confident that the students they hire will have the skills they need.

When the marketable skills that students develop via their course assignments are made explicit, students can more effectively focus on these skills and communicate them to future employers.  This workshop will focus on how to incorporate critical marketable skills and the 8 competencies outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers into your course syllabus.
