Genetic and Behavioral Dissection of Pain Neural Circuits - Neuroscience Seminar Series
Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019
4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Location: CRA 12.120

Neuroscience Seminar Series

Title - Genetic and Behavioral Dissection of Pain Neural Circuits

Speaker - Ishmail Abdus-Saboor, PhD
University of Pennsylvania

The Abdus-Saboor lab is addressing important questions about sensory system perception – from the level of the gene to the level of organismal behavior. Using an integrative approach spanning optogenetics and chemogenetics, automated tracking/scoring of behavior at millisecond timescales, calcium imaging and patch clamp physiology in dissociated neurons, their overall goal is to increase basic understanding of the mechanisms governing encoding of somatosensory stimuli, with a particular focus on pain.

There will also be a videolink to JO 4.306 for the lecture.

Light refreshments will be available.

Persons with disabilities may submit a request for accommodations to participate in this event at UT Dallas' ADA website. You may also call (972) 883-5331 for assistance or send an email to [email protected]. All requests should be received no later than 2 business days prior to the event.
