 Globalizing Your Classroom:

 Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

Learn about the emerging field of Globally Networked Learning in this CTL Lunch and Learn with Dr. Caryn Voskuil, an associate dean at Richland College and recent recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to France. Dr. Voskuil will present on the COIL model, which uses technology to connect U.S. students with their peers abroad in shared courses co-taught by faculty members from each country. The courses are designed to provide an international learning experience to students who are “place- or time-bound."

COIL was developed by the State University of New York in 2006 to foster faculty and student interaction with university peers abroad through online and blended learning environments. Voskuil, a UT Dallas alumnus and the associate dean of humanities, fine and performing arts at Richland, currently is facilitating a COIL project that connects Richland students with university students in France.
