Speaker: Jaret Hodges, PhD, University of North Texas

Title: Identifying and Meeting the Needs of Gifted Students from Diverse Populations

Education should address the diverse needs of students, including those who have outstanding levels of aptitude or competence in academic domains. But it can be challenging to identify and support gifted students, and particularly those from populations who are traditionally marginalized in Texas public schools (e.g., Black; Latinx; Native American; in poverty; English-language learners). Dr. Hodges will discuss successful identification and programming models for children from marginalized populations. Implications for education inequity will also be discussed.

Persons with disabilities may submit a request for accommodations to participate in this event at UT Dallas' ADA website. You may also call (972) 883-5331 for assistance or send an email to [email protected]. All requests should be received no later than 2 business days prior to the event.
