Office of Development and Alumni Relations

Jessica Shepard Watts

Rod Wetterskog is the assistant dean of corporate relations for the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. After nearly a decade at Texas Instruments, he joined UT Dallas as the director of development and alumni relations for the Jonsson School. Now, his role focuses on aligning high-tech companies with Jonsson School faculty and students, and building and expanding successful relationships that help companies meet their research and recruiting goals.

Before coming to UT Dallas, Wetterskog managed the university relations programs at TI where he worked with universities to establish research projects with their electrical engineering and computer science departments. He also helped recruit students into internships and full-time positions. Prior to TI, he worked at Eastman Kodak as an optical scientist, and test and systems engineer. In the early 1990s, he moved to Texas to work as an applied physicist at the Superconducting Super Collider, a U.S. Department of Energy physics project. After the end of that project, Wetterskog served for six years as the director of the North Central Texas Tech Prep Consortium where he partnered with high schools, colleges, universities and industry to help better prepare students entering technical careers. He has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Penn State University and a master’s degree in physics from the University of Oklahoma.
