2016 Diversity Awards Ceremony and Soirée
Each year the ODCE recognizes the contributions of UT Dallas faculty, staff, students and community partners to advance the UT Dallas diversity mission, goals and programs with special awards during the annual Diversity Awards Ceremony and Soirée. The Diversity Awards Ceremony was established seven years ago to celebrate and highlight how diversity enables and empowers our community to reach the highest levels of excellence. The program is an extraordinary display of the accomplishments of champions of diversity and is attended by more than 250 students, faculty, staff, the University president, corporations and community partners.
The theme for the Diversity Awards Ceremony and Soirée this year is "Diversity: Promoting an Inclusive Climate." This year's host for the event is Dr. Kenneth Pugh, who is a clinical associate professor at the University of Texas at Dallas School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, which includes the Callier Center for Communication Disorders.
Other features of the event will include special award presentations, musical selections from UT Dallas students and the winners of the Diversity Poetry Competition Showcase. The Soirée will feature food from various cultural regions of the world (catered by Chartwells Catering) and dancers from the Edd M Philippine Dance Company, the African Student Union Dancers, and the Bangladesh Student Union Dancers. Music provided by the UT Dallas Jazz Ensemble Band and Mariachi Michoacan.
