What is your favorite local restaurant?

Chiloso Mexican Bistro has phenomenal grilled avocados. Need I say more?

How did your college experience help shape who you are?

In college I learned that there is a whole world out there beyond my comfort zone. If I want to experience it and learn all I can from it, I have to open myself up to new experiences and people. You can gain a lifetime’s worth of knowledge from books, but that’s not the only way college will serve you. Gain a lifetime of experiences by going out and discovering new people, new places and worlds that are different from your own.

What advice do you have for students beginning their college search?

Two things I found to be most helpful in getting to know the community on a campus were taking a campus tour and eating on campus. This allows a student to get a feel for what classroom and lab settings the University has to offer, but you also get to see how students interact outside of the classroom. It’s important to find a community you truly enjoy being a part of.
