Texas Success Initiative (TSI): The TSI requires students to be assessed in reading, writing and math skills prior to enrolling in college, if not previously exempt. Students can be exempted from TSI through a variety of means. Those who are not TSI exempt will be required to take the TSI Assessment to determine college readiness. Failure to meet the minimum standards may require remedial coursework. Those who do not meet TSI standards will have a registration hold placed on their records. Please visit the Undergraduate Education website for more information.
Comets to the Core: A new co-curricular requirement starting in the fall 2017 semester for all incoming freshmen. The requirement is a project to be completed within the first six weeks of enrollment and again in the fall semester of each students’ junior year. Each student will be placed in a group with seven other incoming students from different majors. The groups will work together using their members’ unique skill sets to propose a multi-faceted solution to a problem selected by UT Dallas students, faculty and staff.
