UT Dallas to Host Annual GIS Day Event

UT Dallas will celebrate its eighth annual GIS Day on November 15 and showcase its geospatial information sciences (GIS) program at the event.

The day, which is celebrated by GIS scholars and practitioners worldwide, was inaugurated in 1999. Event organizers across the globe consider GIS Day an ideal time to demonstrate the benefits of GIS, promote new opportunities in the field, and share information about GIS with the general public.

The UT Dallas event starts at 9:00 a.m. and will feature recruiters from Facebook and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; a geographer who has collaborated with the NSF, NASA, USAID, and the U.S. Department of State; and a specialist in GIS applications for local government. The event will also include a student poster competition and an industry showcase of cutting-edge GIS technology.
