"...public service is a stimulating, proud, and lively enterprise. It is not just a way of life, it is a way to live fully." — Lee H. Hamilton

Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs

The Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs prepares students for a wide range of exciting and fulfilling careers in public service. Students discover the challenges of management, leadership, policy development, and policy implementation in diverse public sector environments and learn to use their knowledge of the public sector to address these governance challenges in an effective practical way.

The Bachelor of Science degree is a unique experience because it offers you an opportunity to study public administration by applying theory to practice. Through applied projects and in-service learning, you will learn to develop realistic and well-informed solutions that can bring change to local and global communities. Upon graduation, you will be empowered to use your skills and knowledge to succeed in positions that involve human resource management, contract management, budgeting, and other general management tasks in public and nonprofit organizations.

The degree consists of 120 semester credit hours and offers students an opportunity to earn an accelerated Masters in Public Affairs (MPA). In their junior year, academically qualifying students can take courses towards their UT Dallas MPA degree through the Fast Track program. Students interested in pursuing a legal career degree are encouraged to pursue the Pre-Law program.
