Deciding on GIS

UTD has one of the best programs in the state for a tool based approach to GIS. To me, this meant I would come out of the program with a skill set that I could apply directly to a position in industry. The program at UTD holds most of its classes at night. This allowed me to continue working full time as a GIS Analyst while pursuing a degree.

My EPPS Success

Nora Hernandez and Anthony Cummings have been vital to my success at UTD.

Plans for the Future

Continue work as a GIS Analyst.

Advice to Prospective EPPS Students

Discover what interests you. Shadow a GIS Analyst for a day. Talk to a UTD Professor about the work that they do. Search kind of GIS positions available. Search the web for how GIS is utilized. The field is expanding quickly, and so is the potential.
