Why did you decide on a PhD in Public Affairs?

I have been in the world of social sciences since my undergraduate studies, but I was always looking for opportunities to learn more. Getting my master’s degree in health services administration inspired me to learn more about the full spectrum of public service and delve deeper into the intricacies of public organizations. Thus, deciding on pursuing a PhD came rather naturally, and the department of Public Affairs at UTD, gave me the opportunity to get expertise in the field of public administration, with a focus on human resources management.

What do you like about your Program at UT Dallas?

During my time in EPPS, I have invested in building my academic skills and I am still learning every day, not only from my coursework and graduate assistant position, but also from my fellow students. Personal perseverance, dedication and hard work are indispensable elements of such an effort. Most importantly though, the PhD journey cannot be realized without the mentoring and valuable support of the Public Affairs faculty, who have been close to us from the very first semester.

Plans for the Future

My immediate plan is to successfully complete and defend my dissertation. In the long run, I plan on staying in academia, but looking for a position in a research or government organization related with my field of expertise, is also a strong possibility.
