In a few short weeks, your student will be returning home to celebrate the holiday season. In what might be their first extended trip back since August, things could seem very different, especially if your student has been living away from home.

During this time, learn to embrace your student’s newfound independence, which may require you to set renewed expectations about household rules. Encourage your student to disconnect from academics and reunite with old friends. Your family dynamic may shift a little as everyone readjusts, but our Student Counseling Center has information and tips for how to make the return a smooth experience for the entire family.

As you celebrate and reconnect, please accept best wishes from our family to yours. Happy holidays!
