Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas Scholarship

Description:

The Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, enroll as a full-time student, have a minimum cumulative 3.3 GPA, and at least two semesters remaining prior to graduation. Recipient must be enrolled full-time at UT Dallas at time of award. Among equally qualified applicants, a preference may be given to applicants who have lived in, matriculated from, or are dependents of individuals from India, or have some other connection to India through their family or work. The recipient is encouraged to volunteer with the UT Dallas Indian Students' Association. A minimum award of $1,000 per year may be given and cannot be combined with any other forms of financial aid. This scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis by a committee duly appointed by the president of UT Dallas.

Applicant must:
  1. Submit a one-page narrative with a brief history of your life, your education, work experience, or family connection to India. Please also include all of the following:
    • the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi
    • a personal story of encountering and overcoming adversity
    • how this scholarship will add to your educational and career goals.
  2. Submit a list of academic and professional goals; work experience; involvement in extracurricular activities; and how you have been supporting or plan to support yourself while attending school.
  3. Demonstrate financial need by having a current FAFSA or TASFA on file in the Office of Financial Aid or completing a Financial Statement for UTD Scholarships.
