Zack Nguyen earned a bachelor’s degree in arts and technology from the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication. After graduation, he plans to continue his career as an artist and freelance designer while working to establish a small business, which will feature products that use art as a way to help mental well-being. He also plans to go to graduate school in fall 2021 with a research focus in design, innovation and health care.

Brett Friedheim celebrated at the Spirit Rocks after he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. Standing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court Building, Mariam Farahmand, who graduated summa cum laude this fall with a bachelor’s degree in political science, spent her last semester as an Archer Fellow in Washington, D.C. “This semester has provided me with networking opportunities, work experience, insights regarding my career goals, wonderful new friends and many lasting memories. I am excited to see what the next step of my journey will bring.” Farahmand will take a gap year before attending law school. Eventually, she hopes to become a criminal defense attorney.

Meeting new people with diverse cultures and backgrounds, working with other students on group projects, having great academic advisors and professors to guide me, and the time I spent as a co-op at Collins Aerospace were all awesome and memorable moments.”

She already has one offer to work as a software developer at Paycom. “I am interviewing [with] Google and Twitter this month, and I also plan to continue to contribute to help students achieve their dream jobs.”

Sami Kashlan earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare studies in the spring from the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduation, he wants to learn more about the business side of health care before going to medical school. “UT Dallas has a special place in my heart as it allowed me to grow professionally because of its staff and students.”

Carmen Mejia, who graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in global business from the Naveen Jindal School of Management, landed a full-time job with Bank of America in San Francisco. She interned for the company last summer.

Shayan Mufti, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, hopes 2021 is a big year for him. He plans to start work as a software developer in January, travel to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the summer (if COVID-19 permits) and then study for the Graduate Management Admission Test, so he can pursue an MBA.

Ziomek, who also earned a minor in Latin American studies, was a member of the women’s soccer team and was also involved with the student-run television station UTD TV. After graduation, she hopes to find a job in the TV news industry as a producer.
