Digital Certificate Enrollment

Digital certificates are used for email encryption and signing. Please follow the instructions below in order to sign up for a new certificate:

Enroll for a Digital Certificate

  • Click Enroll for New Digital Certificate below
  • Enter your NetID and password at the SSO prompt
  • Next, check your details displayed and click Enroll if correct. Do not close the web page that comes up after enrolling, as you will need these instructions for installing your certificate
  • An email will then be sent to your UTD email address following enrollment (this message usually arrives within 10 minutes but may take up to 24 hours to be delivered)
  • Open the email and click on the URL provided to proceed in enrolling for your certificate
  • Create a PIN of at least 4 characters (and remember it) - this will be used later when you install your certificate. Once you have typed your PIN twice, click on Submit
  • On the final screen, click Download and save the file (if you were not asked where to save the certificate, it is most likely in your “Downloads” folder as a .p12 file-type)
  • After you have saved your certificate-file, please copy it to another safe location eg. your H-drive or your CometSpace (Box) folder; this will make it easy to restore if you get a new PC, have Windows reinstalled, etc
  • Next, you will need to install your digital certificate
