Colleagues to Share Knowledge at Free, Three-Day Series
Staff Council is presenting its first Professional Development Series for all staff members from March 19-21 in the Student Union Staff/Faculty Dining Room (SU 2.602). To attend, bring your Comet Card to show at check-in.
Tuesday, March 19
- 9-10 a.m.: Learn about resources at booths.
- 10-11 a.m.: Working While Getting Your Degree — Panel discussion with Eric Van Leeuwen (Office of Graduate Education), Marco Mendoza (Human Resources), Holly Miori (Development).
- 11 a.m.-noon: LinkedIn Learning — Presented by McDermott Library staff.
Wednesday, March 20
- 11 a.m.-noon: Learn about resources at booths.
- noon-1 p.m.: Presenting Your Best Self — Tips from Fiona Hunter, associate director at the Jindal School’s Career Management Center.
- 1-2 p.m.: Event Planning at UTD 101 — Presentation by Andy Helgeson (Student Union), Carrie Chutes (Auxiliary Services), Elena Galli (Parking and Transportation).
Thursday, March 21
- noon-1 p.m.: Learn about resources at booths.
- 1-2 p.m.: Resources for Your Professional Development —Terry Cartwright, manager of training and organizational development, and Karen Lowman, training specialist.
There will be coffee, refreshments and snacks each day. On Tuesday, there will be a continental breakfast. Lunch will be provided on Wednesday for the first 50 people who RSVP.

Gain New Skills with LinkedIn Learning Courses
UT Dallas and the McDermott Library have a new tool for staff, faculty and student development called LinkedIn Learning. The free online platform offers access to Lynda.com learning content with more than 12,000 courses on a wide range of topics to help you reach your personal and professional goals.
You can log in to the portal with your UT Dallas NetID and password and can link your LinkedIn account if you wish.

Volunteers Needed for Commencement, Memories on the Mall
Staff members interested in volunteering at the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies and Memories on the Mall are invited to sign up by Friday, April 26. Commencement roles include greeters, ushers and shuttle guides. Duties for Memories on the Mall include distributing alumni tote bags to graduates and serving refreshments. Available shifts include:
Tuesday, May 14
- Commencement: 7:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m., 12:45-3:30 p.m., 3:15-6 p.m. or all day (7:45 a.m.-6 p.m.)
- Memories on the Mall: 9:45-11 a.m., 12:15-1:30 p.m., 2:45-4 p.m. or 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 15
- Commencement: 7:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m., 12:45-3:30 p.m. or all day (7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)

The Office of Human Resources invites staff and faculty to attend its Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, March 29 in its new office location (AD 3.108). UT System Activity Challenge Registration Opens March 18
Spring is in the air, so let’s get moving with Spring Into Motion from April 1-28.
The activity challenge encourages you to log physical activity as you explore a new spring theme each week — all while experiencing the rejuvenating physical and mental health benefits of being active outside.

Improvements on Tap for My UT Benefits Site
Improvements to the My UT Benefits website are coming this month. Benefits-eligible employees will receive an invitation to the new My UT Benefits site with login instructions and further details on this transition. Some features of the revamped site include:
- New look and feel.
- Clear and concise information about your benefits.
- Various resources that explain your coverage.
- Ability to change coverage online for qualified life events (i.e. birth, marriage, divorce) within 31 days of the event date.
- Mobile access to review your benefits and explore new plans.
- Select your benefits online during Annual Enrollment in July.

Center for Teaching and Learning Event
International Students' Perspectives on Academic Adjustment, noon-1 p.m., Thursday, March 28 (MC 2.410) — International students will share their experiences adjusting to U.S. academic culture. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with current students to discuss various intercultural factors and implications for teaching that impact an international student’s success in the classroom. Lunch will be provided while supplies last.

Quenching Curiosity — Rethinking Chronic Pain, 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 (Northside Drafthouse and Eatery) — Chronic pain is one of the most common and poorly treated health problems. Thriving — Keys to Finding a Successful Work Life Balance, 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, April 17 (AD 3.108): This class will teach you how to control five key elements that will make life and work more fulfilling and enjoyable.
Keep Calm, Cool, and Confident: Learn to Assert Yourself! 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, April 23 (AD 3.108): Learn to communicate assertively while respecting the rights of others.
Another Fine Mess — Dealing With Stress in the Workplace, 2-4 p.m., Thursday, April 25 (AD 3.108): Look at the root causes of stress and learn ways to alleviate it.

Reminders
Apply for Naturally Slim by Friday
Ever wonder how some people can eat all their favorite foods and not gain weight? Naturally Slim is an online program that will teach you how. And here’s a hint: it doesn’t include starving, counting calories or spending hours prepping approved foods.
Starting April 1, the 10-week, online program will teach you simple, repeatable skills to help you lose weight and keep it off. Fill out the application between March 4-15.
The Naturally Slim program is available to all UT SELECT and UT CONNECT Medical Plan members age 18 and older, including employees, retirees, spouses and dependents who have not participated in the last 12 months.
Access Total Rewards Statement at My UT Benefits Site
The Office of Human Resources is pleased to provide your “UT REWARD$ 4U - My Total Rewards Statement,” an annual statement of your compensation and benefits package as a UT Dallas employee. The statement demonstrates the total estimated annualized value of your salary plus longevity and other state and UT Dallas benefits.
The statements are personalized and based on each individual's estimated earnings and benefit selections as of Dec. 1, 2018. Total Rewards Statements are updated annually with December payroll data.
Your current Total Rewards Statement is available on the My UT Benefits website through Friday, March 15.
