Siqi Fang MS’14 married Chunyan Tang MS’15 in November, after proposing two months earlier through a special brick on Legacy Lane on the east side of campus. Siqi said the two met in Shanghai in 2011, shortly before he left for UT Dallas to study information technology and management. In 2014, Chunyan came to the University to study supply chain management.

“At that time, we fell in love,” Siqi said. But the couple soon faced a hard decision when Chunyan got a job offer from Apple in China, immediately following her graduation, while Siqi was working at a Dallas information technology company.

“That is a really good job,” Siqi said, recalling he wanted her to “follow her heart” and pursue her career. The two began a long-distance relationship — but “long distance kept torturing us,” he said.

“So I made my proposal in September of 2016, and we had the wedding in November.”

In March of this year, Siqi said the two had gotten a new house and are living in Plano.

Best “whooshes” to the happy couple!
