Cinco De Mayo Recognition

Join us as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo, which commemorates Mexico’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. Learn more about the real story of Cinco de Mayo and why it is celebrated here in the United States. Enjoy booth activities, crafts, games, dances, food and so much more!

Cultural Significance

Cinco de Mayo (Or May 5th) is the day that the Mexican army won the battle of Puebla against the French invaders in 1862. At the time, the French army was the strongest army in the world and it was unbelievable that Mexico’s army comprised of soldiers and farmers could win the battle.

This day does not mark the Independence Day of Mexico, which falls on September 16.
