Sneak a Peek at College Job Outlook

Sept. 13, 2007

For the fifth-straight year, employers are reporting that they will increase their hiring of new college graduates, according to the fall survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). To see this trend in action, come to the Fall 2007 Career Expo at UT Dallas. The Expo is attracting more than 125 national companies to campus to recruit new graduates, so many employers that the UT Dallas Career Center had to create a wait-list. The Expo is not open to the general public.

Trends in hiring from recent NACE surveys:

  • Employers will hire 16 percent more new graduates in 2008 than they did in 2007.
  • More than 50 percent of seniors who began their job hunt in the fall had landed jobs by graduation.
  • Communication skills are the most important to recruiters, with honesty and integrity a close second.
