UT Dallas continues to build its reputation as one of the top values among the nation's public universities. For its rankings, Kiplinger’s considers admission rates, the percentage of students who return for their sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. The average student-to-faculty ratio at UT Dallas is 21-to-1.

The University of Texas at Dallas has been ranked as one of the top 100 best values among the nation’s public universities, according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.

The University rose to 33rd on the 2016 list, up from 34th in 2015.

“It is gratifying to again be listed among the best values in higher education by Kiplinger's,” said Dr. Andrew Blanchard, dean of undergraduate education. “Our faculty and staff strive to provide students with a well-rounded and academically rigorous education, and we are pleased to be recognized for doing so at an affordable cost.”

The magazine ranks four-year schools that deliver outstanding academics at an affordable price. Kiplinger’s considers admission rates, the percentage of students who return for their sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate.

UT Dallas was selected based on its low average student debt at graduation, high four-year graduation rate, low sticker price and financial aid programs.

“We start with a universe of 1,200 schools, so each school on our rankings, from No. 1 to No. 300, is a best value,” said Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. “Families can use the list as a starting point and then tailor it to each student’s preference for such things as size, location, campus culture and major.”

The annual public university and college rankings also will appear in Kiplinger’s February issue, and they are available online.

Three other Texas universities also made the 2016 list. The University of Texas at Austin was listed 13th, Texas A&M University was 35th and Texas Tech University was 98th.
