The fall semester brings several transportation features that make it easier for students, faculty and staff to arrive to campus, quickly find parking and conveniently get around UT Dallas.

The campus entrance at Loop Road Southwest, between the newly completed Canyon Creek Heights student apartments, will reopen Monday. To help with traffic flow in the area, the city of Richardson is installing traffic lights at the intersection of Waterview Parkway and Tatum Street/Loop Road Southwest, and repainted some of the lane striping on the impacted roads. The bridge in the median will now have two lanes in each direction to allow for dedicated turn lanes. Please be aware of new traffic patterns in the area and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Several parking lots were updated and improved over the summer. New parking guidance systems will be available this fall in all parking structures to help drivers quickly find available spaces. Parking permits may be purchased online or in person at the PS3 Parking Office (PS3 1.200) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. TollTags are also available for purchase at the PS3 Parking Office.

Comet Cruisers, the buses that serve the University and surrounding community, will operate on the fall schedule, with expanded 883 West service. The new 883 West McCallum/Meandering route will offer service times every 20 minutes Monday through Friday and every 30 minutes on Saturdays. Please carefully review the new route maps and schedules to make your transportation plans.

In addition, the Medical District Express Route will resume Monday. The shuttle provides service from the main UT Dallas campus to the Center for BrainHealth, the Center for Vital Longevity, UT Southwestern, Parkland Hospital and Callier Center Dallas. The route will operate Monday-Friday, with buses departing from the bus stop at Callier Center Dallas beginning at 7 a.m. each day. Each Medical District Express shuttle is equipped with Wi-Fi, as well as GPS tracking to allow riders to locate where each shuttle is on the route. The pilot route will run through the fall semester. Ridership numbers will be evaluated to determine whether it will be continued.

Comet Cabs, the University's campus shuttle service, will run six routes this semester. The cabs also can be tracked by GPS.

Additional on-campus transportation services include bike repair stations, vehicle charging stations, Booster fueling service and the UT Dallas Zipcar fleet. There will also be a new bike-sharing service this fall called VBikes, which will bring additional rental locations and bikes on campus. The new program is expected to launch in September.
