UT Dallas Inducts 6 into Athletic Hall of Honors

The UT Dallas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics inducted its largest group ever into its Hall of Honors on Wednesday night, with six new members joining as the Class of 2010.

Athletic program contributor/advocate Leo Eveleth, longtime Head Athletic Trainer Larry Gardner and former soccer players Chris Nelson and Katie Johnson were inducted along with Gordon Walters and Shaunna Lawrence Lynch, the honors program’s first former student-athletes from baseball and softball.

The annual Induction Dinner drew more than 100 family members, friends, UT Dallas administrators and Athletic Department staff members to the Hyatt Richardson/North Dallas on Nov. 17.

Begun in 2006, the Hall of Honors was established to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and others who have played a significant role in the growth and success of the UT Dallas intercollegiate athletic program since its beginning in 1998.

The six new members of the Hall of Honors were selected by a committee that includes coaches and athletic administrators, faculty members and former recipients.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have played at least two years for UT Dallas and graduated five or more years ago.

After four induction classes, the Hall of Honors now includes 17 members. Plaques commemorating these individuals are on display outside University athletic offices, located in the west hallway of the UT Dallas Activities Center.
