Latin Jazz With Salsa/Rock Twist
To Kick Off UTD’s Arts Season Sept. 5

Norma ZentenoRICHARDSON, Texas (Aug. 18, 2003) - The University of Texas at Dallas' 2003-2004 arts season will open with a Latin flair on Friday, Sept. 5, at 8 p.m. with a performance by the Norma Zenteno Band in the University Theatre.

Zenteno, proclaimed "Houston's Salsa Queen" by the Houston media, is a fourth-generation performing artist, and she draws a regional following that cuts across ethnic and generational divisions. Her song-writing and her musical style have developed into a unique blend of Latin Jazz with a Salsa/Rock twist. A performance by Zenteno sways audiences through smooth romantic jazz ballads and energizes them with salsa beats. Tickets for the Sept. 5 event are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and will go on sale beginning Aug. 27.
