UNT’s Renowned One O’Clock Lab Band Will Return to U. T. Dallas on Sept. 27

The University of North Texas’ internationally renowned One O’Clock Lab Band will perform in the Conference Center on The University of Texas at Dallas campus at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept.27.

Tickets for the concert are $15 general admission, $10 for students of other universities and alumni and $5 for UTD faculty and staff and anyone under 18. A limited number of tickets will be available free for UTD students with an I.D.

Now in its 54th year, the One O’Clock Lab Band is the premiere performing ensemble of UNT’s world-famous jazz program. In addition to four Grammy nominations, the band has received awards from National Public Radio, VISA International, The International Association of Jazz Educators and the Dallas Observer Reader’s Poll. It has performed at the White House and with such artists as Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald.

Directed by Neil Slater, who received his own Grammy nomination for best arrangement on Lab 91, the ensemble is regarded as unsurpassed among university jazz bands. The ensemble has toured Europe, Mexico, Australia, Japan and Russia, and past members have gone on to play in bands led by Branford Marsalis, Doc Severinsen, Harry Connick, Jr., Count Basie, David Lee Roth, Woody Herman and Bill Evans.

Tickets for the UTD production will be available for purchase beginning Aug. 27. Tickets are on sale Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Art & Performance Office in the VisualArtsBuilding on the UTD campus and at the door of each event one hour prior to show time.
