The School of Arts & Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is planning an arts season for the coming school year that will feature more than 40 events and highlight what Dean Dennis Kratz calls his school’s “commitment to blurring, transcending and generally ignoring artificial boundaries that inhibit understanding and creativity.”

The nine-month season, formally entitled “Blurring the Boundaries,” will feature art exhibitions, classical concerts, dance performances, guitar concerts and a competition, festivals, jazz performances and theatre. The events will be separated into four areas — Special Events, Faculty Highlights, Art and Engineering and Rising Stars. Enhanced by new programs from such non-traditional sources as UTD’s Institute for Interactive Arts & Engineering, the season will bring together multiple media and modes of artistic expression, unite art with education and attempt to integrate the university and the surrounding community.

Please see the attached calendar of events for specific dates, times, cost and venues. Additional information on each event will be released at a later date. All programs are subject to change.

Tickets for all Arts & Humanities events will be available for purchase beginning Aug. 27. Tickets for all events, with the exception of art exhibitions, which are free and do not require a ticket, are on sale Tuesdays to Fridays from 9: 30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Art & Performance Office in the Visual Arts Building on the UTD campus and at the door of each event one hour prior to show time. Tickets are also available for purchase with MasterCard and Visa by phone during office hours. Messages may be left on an automated information line at 972-883-2787 (972-UTD ARTS).
