Students’ Creativity, Enthusiasm in Full Bloom for Springapalooza

The UT Dallas Anime Orchestra Ensemble performed at Comet-Con. AOE's repertoire includes soundtracks from anime, video games, television and film.
Last but certainly not least, Bill Nye put a bow on Springapalooza events with a free presentation for students in the ATEC lecture hall. Nye treated the sold-out crowd to his trademark wit and wisdom, and he even enlisted his friend, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, for an impromptu speakerphone chat.
UT Dallas students' ingenuity was on display at Comet-Con's cosplay contest. Their handcrafted costumes represented characters from TV, film, anime, video games, graphic novels and comic books.

Springapalooza, a weeklong celebration organized by the Student Union & Activities Advisory Board and other University partners, welcomed back UT Dallas students returning from spring break.

A highlight was the ever-popular Splatter Dance, complete with live music and glow paint. Springapalooza also included a Food Fest, Comedy Show featuring Rory Scovel, the 30th annual Casino Night games, a live concert featuring Coin and Thirdstory, Comet-Con gaming tournaments and cosplay contest, an evening with Bill Nye the Science Guy, and a showing of Star Wars: Rogue One.
