UT Dallas received seven accolades at the annual Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) regional conference for work done in development, marketing and communications at the University.

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations received a gold award for its crowdfunding platform, Impact UTD. The tool allows students, faculty and staff to use their social media networks to raise funds for charitable causes that contribute to the University’s mission.

Julie Spanos, marketing manager for the Division of Student Affairs, won a silver award for her design work on the 2015 Welcome Week poster. The placard was used to promote the schedule of events and activities on campus during the first two weeks of the fall semester.

“Student Affairs is proud to again be recognized by CASE for our marketing design work,” said Jenni Huffenberger, senior director of marketing and student media for the division. “I’m especially proud of Julie’s thoughtful approach to creating marketing materials that both engage and resonate with our students and of her collaborative, cheerful artistic style.”

The Office of Communications took bronze in the “Social Media – Networking Page” category for the University’s Instagram account, which documents the daily goings-on around campus.

Communications manager Phil Roth was also recognized with a bronze award for a News Center article titled “Vagus Nerve Stimulation Shows Progress in Stroke Patient Recovery.” The article described a study co-authored by neuroscience professor Dr. Michael Kilgard that tested for the first time the effects of vagus nerve stimulation in individuals recovering from strokes.

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations also received a bronze award for Momentum, a biannual publication that serves as the primary vehicle for sharing news, updates and stories related to fundraising efforts.

LeeDon Moore MFA'14, creative director of the Marketing Department, received an honorable mention for the spring 2015 edition cover design of UT Dallas Magazine. The Explore UT Dallas webpage, created by graphic designer Julianne Fowler and web software developer Dawn Berglund, also received an honorable mention.

The awards were presented during a Dallas conference for CASE’s District IV, which represents nearly 3,000 members from 261 institutions in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

CASE is an international organization for professionals in alumni relations, marketing, communications and development.
