To get started, choose from the options above.

Windows

    Windows 10
    • In the search field on the bottom left, look up “This PC”.
    • In the This PC window click Computer on the top.
    • Click Map Network Drive.
    • If Map network drive is not at the top, press the arrow beside the question mark in the top-right corner

    Windows 8
    • Click the Windows logo and open the Search menu located at the top right of the screen.
    • In the search field, look up “Computer”.
    • Click Apps and then Computer.
    • In the Computer Window click Map Network Drive at the top.
    • If Map network drive is not at the top, press the arrow beside the question mark in the top-right corner

    Windows 7
    • Click on Start, then right-click Computer and click on Map Network Drive.


  • In the Map Network Drive window
    • Pick an available drive letter

      Typical drive letters:
      Department: G
      AllShare: P
      Personal: H

    • Enter the path to the drive

      Typical drive paths:
      Department: \\utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu\deptsharename$
      AllShare: \\utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu\allshare$
      Student Personal: \\mars.utdallas.edu\NetID
      Staff Personal: \\utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu\users$\NetID

    • Check Reconnect at logon.
    • VPN ONLY Check Connect using different credentials, then enter:
      • [email protected]
      • Password

macOS

  • Open a new Finder window, then type Command+K. This will open the Connect to Server panel.
  • Enter the Server Address and click Connect.

    Typical Server Addresses:
    Department: smb://utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu/deptsharename$
    AllShare: smb://utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu/allshare$
    Student Personal: smb://mars.utdallas.edu/NetID
    Staff Personal: smb://utdfs01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu/users$/NetID

  • When the login panel appears, click on Registered User, then enter your NetID and Password.
