Changes in EAS

The University of Texas at Dallas is an innovative Tier 1 Carnegie research institution positioned to make a global difference. UTD is committed to growing student enrollment, expanding the research portfolio, strengthening ties across Dallas-Fort Worth and the state, enhancing campus infrastructure, and hiring dynamic faculty and staff members. A critical success factor is having a suite of enterprise applications that enable students, faculty, and staff to operate efficiently, effectively, and securely, and to make better / faster decisions.

The OIT Enterprise Applications Services (EAS) team supports the PeopleSoft, OnBase, and Oracle BI products that are leveraged by UT Dallas faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to enhance our customers’ productivity and provide them with timely information for decision making.

Historically, these applications have been supported by six separate teams: PeopleSoft HCM (Gemini HR), PeopleSoft FMS (Gemini Financials), PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (Orion Student Information System), Blackboard Learning Management System, Hyland OnBase, Oracle business intelligence, and EAS Technologies. This approach has some advantages. However, it also hampers our ability to quickly provide quality services that are consistent across our entire application suite, and limits our ability to support new opportunities.

As such, we are evolving our organizational structure as part of an effort to better serve our customers. EAS will now have two Associate Directors reporting directly to me: one who is responsible for the entire PeopleSoft ERP suite and LMS, and one who is responsible for all operations services and broadly shared applications.

I am thrilled to announce that effective Friday, September 16th, two of my current EAS managers will be promoted to Associate Directors.

Scott Simpson will lead the Enterprise Applications group. Scott will now be responsible for delivery and support of the entire Enterprise Application ERP portfolio. This scope currently includes all of our PeopleSoft products (Campus Solutions, Human Capital Management, Finance, and Portal), and Blackboard’s Learning Management System. Anoop Salver and Richard Marler, and their teams, will now report to Scott. In the future, Scott’s scope will be broadened to include custom application development.

Jai Chitkara will lead the Enterprise Application Shared Services group. Jai will now be responsible for delivery and support of all EAS shared applications and operational services. The shared application scope currently includes Hyland OnBase (document management and workflow) and Oracle EPM / OBIA (business intelligence and reporting). Brad Skiles and Steven Jestis, and their teams, will now report to Jai. The operational services scope currently includes: user access, PeopleSoft integrations, automated testing, application monitoring, job scheduling, and audit / compliance support. In the future, Jai’s scope will be broadened to include quality assurance, dev ops, incident management, and data delivery.

Please extend your congratulations to Scott and Jai!
