Welcome to UT Dallas

Congratulations on pursuing your graduate studies at UT Dallas. To help you get off to a good, strong start, New Student Programs and the Office of Graduate Studies will provide you with information to help answer any questions you have about the University.

Because you have attended one or more colleges or universities before, you may have noticed that each institution has policies, procedures, and services that are unique. Therefore, we encourage you to utilize the online Graduate Student Orientation resources to learn more about UT Dallas.

Additional information is available through the UT Dallas Graduate Catalog, Class Schedule and the Office of Graduate Studies website.

Graduate Student Orientation


Graduate Student Orientation resources for students are available online in eLearning. These resources will cover what to expect as a graduate student at UT Dallas, an overview of the code of student conduct, academic integrity policies, campus services, and ways to get involved on campus as a new graduate student.

To access the online modules, log into the UT Dallas eLearning site using your NetID and password (if you are having problems with your NetID, please visit Under My Organizations, select Graduate Student Orientation. If you do not see Graduate Student Orientation, please email [email protected] to gain access.

School Based Sessions

Some departments will host their own Graduate Orientation. Please contact your school of study to determine whether or not you will have a required Departmental Graduate Orientation. If you do not see an orientation below for your program, please contact your Department.

Class Registration

To register for classes, please schedule a meeting with your academic advisor as soon as possible. You can find your degree’s advisor contact information at

International Graduate Students

International Student Orientation is mandatory for F and J visa holding international students enrolling at UT Dallas for the first time or students changing their status to F-1. International Student Orientation for students entering in summer 2019 will be held on Wednesday, May 15 and Monday, May 22, 2019. International Student Orientation for students entering in fall 2019 will be held July 30 - July 31, August 6 - August 7, and August 13 - August 14. Please Note: F and J status students will NOT be able to register for classes prior to attending an International Student Orientation.
