Ever wondered what UTD’s professors think about sustainability and environmentalism? Three stand-out UTD professors and two representatives from the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center will share stories about their research, connections to sustainability, and environmentalism, and perspectives on the importance of related student engagement.  Learn how to lead and make a difference.

IRB Training Session: Panel for Research with Minors | | April 11th, 2018, 10:00 AM | IRB Protocol Assistance Workshops

When conducting research with children, there are some additional considerations for recruitment, obtaining appropriate consent / assent, and the conduct of study procedures. There are also specific regulatory requirements and institutional policies. In this panel presentation, three experienced UTD researchers will share their perspectives and suggestions for effectively working with minor participants in research.

Development Series - Responsibilities to Society | RL 3.204 | April 4th, 2018, 10:00 AM | Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Series

The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Development Series is a blended learning, multi-session series designed to engage the UT Dallas research community in contemporary issues in research ethics and scientific integrity. Workshops will provide instruction commensurate with grant funding requirements for the NIH and NSF.

In order to earn an RCR Development Series certification, students, postdocs, and staff must complete the online RCR Foundations Training and attend the additional five core workshops.

Federal regulations, UTD policy, Institutional Review Board requirements…oh my!  If the responsibility of compliance and thought of an IRB post-monitoring review makes your head spin, this presentation is for you.  Speakers (two current research coordinators from the Center of Vital Longevity) will share their perspectives and suggestions for day to day operations of a busy lab and effectively organizing data, documenting participant payment records, managing IRB related paperwork (informed consent documents, IRB paperwork, etc.) to ensure their protocols are in compliance with federal regulations and institutional policy.
