Development Series - Designing Your Research | | September 19th, 2018, 10:00 AM | Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Series

The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Development Series is a blended learning, multi-session series designed to engage the UT Dallas research community in contemporary issues in research ethics and scientific integrity. Workshops will provide instruction commensurate with grant funding requirements for the NIH and NSF.

In order to earn an RCR Development Series certification, students, postdocs, and staff must complete the online RCR Foundations Training and attend the additional five core workshops.

Core Workshops:

  • Introduction to Responsible Conduct of Research
  • Designing Your Research
  • Conducting Your Research
  • Reporting Your Research
  • Responsibilities to Society


Registration is required for attendance and seating is limited. Lite refreshments will be served.

OSP/OPM Seminar - Budget Overview | | September 13th, 2018, 10:00 AM | Office of Research Training Sessions

You may have asked yourself “How do I read and interpret my PeopleSoft Financials Budget Overview?” This course will answer those questions and dive into the navigation and utilization of the tools on the PeopleSoft Financial Budget Overview page. Information will also be provided on UTD's Chart of Account structure for Sponsored Projects and many other tips and tricks pertaining to the financial management of your Awards.

Human Subjects Research Seminar - Minimal Review Post Launch | | September 12th, 2018, 10:00 AM | Office of Research Training Sessions

The UTD Institutional Review Board (IRB) office is in the process of rolling out a new electronic submission portal for Minimal Review applications. Once an application has been submitted electronically, Investigators will be able to track the status of IRB review and manage all protocol actions – such as modifications and final reports. During this session, IRB administrators will demonstrate the application process and highlight features of the portal aimed at streamlining the submission process.

Surgery Hands on Workshop | RL/NSERL B.106 (meet in LARC break room) | August 17th, 2018, 12:30 PM | Rodent Surgery & Biomethodology Workshops

This Workshop begins at 12:30pm and ends at 3:30pm.

Please note: There is a limited amount of space in this Workshop, and your attendance is mandatory once you have registered. If you are unable to attend this Workshop, please contact Cynthia Tralmer as soon as possible. If you are registered for this Workshop and do not attend, your PI will be notified.

The following topics will be covered in this Workshop:

·         Aseptic rodent surgery concepts,

·         Instrument selection and handling,

·         Suture selection,

·         Incision making,

·         Approach to the abdomen,

·         Basic closure patterns,

​·         Proper tissue handling.
